open data detail

I had another quick question about the given open data. It says we will have access to fuel efficiency data. Does this data only take into account miles per gallon, or is there another calculation.

  The data will be miles per gallon (MPG). The vehicle data stream coming from the OBD port doesn't always include MPG but it is easily calculated if not. The calculation is normally made from other existing data parameters, such as instantaneous fuel consumed and vehicle speed. From the existing data you can calculate instantaneous MPG and average it however you choose.
